I'm also using arch at the moment. gnu/linux and all that. just switched over to use wayland over X11.
with sway, which is an i3 drop-in replacement

I used to use wayland on arch
I dropped it because a lot of packages in mainline pacman were not compiled with --enable-wayland

>early in dev
っっっっっっっっw

anyway I'm debugging a wayland install on gentoo right now
have you tried loliwm I mean https://github.com/Cloudef/orbment
it's neat but is not i3 compatible; I might just make the switch anyway

>wayland
I cant bring myself to set it up and try living with it while it's still so early in dev.
It's hell to get Bumblebee working in X, I can't imagine wrestling it in wayland.

>>2851
Yeah whatever lol, ill be back whenever more than 2 people worldwide have figured out how to live with it.

I very well might switch over to gentoo this summer but I had to get my computer running quickly with arch when it completely melted down like a week ago. I haven't seen loliwm before but I might check it out.
>>2852
yo when was the last time you tried? I had no trouble getting it running. x-only apps can run under xWayland and there are now wayland backends to both qt5 and gtk. I haven't used Bumblebee though so that might still be a deal breaker.

a word of warning that gentoo wayland support is terrible
well, it's more like the people that write the compositors do not respect people who use OpenRC

I'm carefully installing x11-base/xorg-server becuase (confusingly enough) xorg-server respects my choice to use openrc

is this on your daily machine? a lot of thinkering with my daily build puts me in a sour mood

>archlinux openrc project is shutting down
there really is nowhere to run

I might just install gentoo on my main laptop; systemd is too ineffective
