They're clearly landing spheres for Orblaxions. Their ships do not have legged landing gear, but instead are basically upturned bowls on the bottom. If they landed on the rim of their bowl, it may damage it and thus cause harm to their ship. They need these special orbs to land on so that the force is evenly distributed across the interior of the bowl and their ship does not see any harm from the landing. Attached you can find a rough technical sketch of their landing gear and how it interacts with these orbs.
